There are a few different kinds of hemorrhoids. They are distinguished mostly by
location although certain types of hemorrhoids may cause more discomfort than others.
Hemorrhoids can be internal, within the colon or rectum, or external, around the anus.
External hemorrhoids can also be called thrombosed or clotted, when a blood clot forms
or is caught in the hemorrhoid. Clotted hemorrhoids are deemed some of the most
painful.
